SEMO PREVENTION
A federal SAMSHA prevention grant through Missouri Institute for Mental Health empowered youth to spread the word through a nine county media campaign that meth and inhalants are not OK. Over thirty churches were trained to use Botvin's LifeSkills and 7 of the churches to date have implemented the training in their congregations. Two years of summer camps were held through which 76 junior high students were trained in LifeSkills. The work of this Steering Committee provided the platform for the current Southeast Missouri Drug Free Communities in the counties of Scott, Mississippi, and New Madrid.
